State of Mobile Gaming Looking Good as Big Name Developers Embrace the Small Screen

While consoles might have gotten much of the attention at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo, mobile games still made a splash on audiences. However, the opposite is true. This might be the year that mobile and consoles finally learn to get along as marquee publishers are beginning to prepare their own offerings for small screens. While Nintendo chose to use the E3 conference as a platform to promote its upcoming Zelda title, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, it still had some time to showcase its fledgling mobile division. When considering that mobile gaming ...

How To Fix Game Of War

Today marks the 500th straight day I have logged into GOW. In those 500 days GOW has really changed. When I first started playing GOW I was amazed to see a player over 100 million. As of today the largest player in my Kindom of Etumos is 250 billion. There are currently over 150 players over a billion. I have never spent a dime on GOW. In 500 days of continual playing I am always been researching and building. I am currently at 56 million and level 21. Problem Over the last two months there are a couple of players from the top two alliances in my kingdom that stay at our hive all the time. I am in the 8th largest alliance, so we ...

Game of War: Finding A New Alliance

Congratulations BuzzSaw for winning this week’s TTS Swag! BuzzSaw asks: I am about to get booted from my alliance because I am not growing fast enough and I am at the bottom of the alliance power list. What should I look for in a new alliance? BuzzSaw getting booted from your alliance really sucks and I can totally sympathize with you, because I am right at the bottom of my alliance power list. The last couple of cuts I was pretty sure I was going to get booted. Don’t piss your current alliance off before you leave. We have had several members that were real A-Holes before they left. If you piss your current alliance off they will not let you join a smaller sister ...

Game Of War: Dungeons, Treasuries, and Alliance Cities

Congratulations Lockeye, Mosman, and IceCold6 for winning TTS Swag! Hello fellow GOW players. Normally I like to answer one question a week and really answer it in detail. However, I am getting so many questions I figured I better take a few extra questions this week. This is great news for GOW Thrill Seekers because the TTS Swag is flying out the door! Lockeye asks: What do you think of the new dungeon? I have to say I am always impressed with ZM on how they come up with new ways for players to spend money. In reality the dungeon is a variation of the casino. The graphics are cool in the dungeon. I really think the dragon looks badass and when you strike the ...

Game Of War: KVK For Smaller Players.

SmellyTuba’s question: I am around 18 million. Can I participate in KVKs? SmellyTuba you can participate in KVKs, but you will need to use a lot of strategy to keep from getting zeroed by bigger players. At 18 million in power you will have a lot of players in the enemy kingdom that can zero you. For example in my kingdom of Etumos there are 73 players over 1 billion. The biggest player is almost 11 billion. Before you port over to the enemy kingdom make sure to scout the area carefully. You will want to look for a beginning alliance or cluster of smaller players. Before you port you will not be able to scout the targeted cities resources. However, you can at least ...

Game Of War: Protecting Your Hero!

IceDog’s question: My hero keeps getting captured! What should I do to prevent this and should I ask my alliance for help getting my hero back? Great question IceDog! I see the captured hero issue come up a lot in my alliance. In my opinion asking your alliance for help recovering your hero is crappy! You lost the hero because of your own negligence. You always have to protect your hero. You can protect your hero a couple of different ways. The best way is keeping your city shielded at all times. When you reach the higher gift levels 17 and above you should be receiving enough gold from gifts alone to remain shielded at all times. The second way to protect your hero is ...

Game Of War: Life In The Hive

SpiketoHeart’s question: My alliance always wants me to be in the hive. Why? I like to move about the kingdom! This is a great question and it’s an issue that has come up in every alliance I have belonged to over the course of six alliances. Basically the alliance wants you close to the hive to help out other players, contribute to the alliance city, and provide a certain degree of protection for all the players in the alliance. All of these reasons for being in the alliance hive have their strong points, however being in the hive is not always best for a player. In my kingdom of Etumos my alliance gOe is the 6th biggest alliance at almost 9.8 billion. However the biggest ...

Game of War: Gold

Halliman asks: How can I gain gold if I am not paying to play. To get the billion power accounts a player must spend money. There is no way around it to achieve this status. Buying pack after pack is necessary to grow super fast. However, gold is still important for the smaller player that is not paying to play. I am in an alliance with a level 18, alliance gift mode. We get a lot of gold. Enough gold that I can easily stay shielded and keep several 3-day shields in reserve. At 22 million in power I am at the bottom of the list in alliance power. My alliance leader chatted with me recently about helping me build faster. Basically he was saying ...

What is it that keeps gamers playing for hours and hours each day? For most of us, it certainly isn’t fame and fortune. It’s becoming a wizard or barbarian to save Tamriel from oblivion. It’s the ability to have a great time with friends or family, without even leaving your living room. My name is Jesse, but online I’m known as Kraftyy. You do not want to see Kraftyy on the opposing team. If you do, I apologize in advance. Boycotting Game Of War

It appears that Machine Zone (MZ), a privately held game company based in Palo Alto, California and developers of the widely popular Game of War: Fire Age (GOW), have become more interested in huge marketing campaigns featuring models Kate Upton and Mariah Carey than the players that are responsible for their huge success.                  Image credit for Kate Upton: Peter Ko The Kingdom of Etumos is leading a boycott of this weekend’s Kingdom vs. Kingdom (KVK) event and has asked players to freeze spending on MZ packages (packs) of gold and various other items useful in the game. These packs can cost anywhere from $4.95 to $99.99 USD. Players spend thousands of dollars on GOW. Several players have ...
